August 10, 2023. Today is the sixth and final day of Voting Week in the provincial by-elections in Lumsden-Morse, Regina Coronation Park, and Regina Walsh Acres.

During the first five days of Voting Week, 7,349 ballots were cast (1,861 in Lumsden-Morse, 2,475 in Regina Coronation Park, and 3,013 in Regina Walsh Acres).

Voting locations are open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. today. The same 15 locations used in the three constituencies for the first five days of voting are open again today. An additional 16 voting locations have been added in some smaller communities across the larger Lumsden-Morse constituency.

Here is the list of all voting locations: www.elections.sk.ca/2023byelections/voting-locations. Any voter can also search for voting location options online at www.elections.sk.ca/wdiv using our Where Do I Vote tool.

By-election results will be available tonight at https://results.elections.sk.ca

“In these three by-elections we have used some alternate procedures as Elections Saskatchewan continues down a path of modernization,” said Dr. Michael Boda, Chief Electoral Officer for Saskatchewan. “We are using electronic poll books with laptops and scanners, vote counting equipment, and an expanded vote by mail.

“Most votes will be counted after voting ends at 8 p.m. tonight. Widespread use of vote counting equipment should speed up when results come in, likely between 15 and 30 minutes after voting locations close. It is important to note that some ballots in Lumsden-Morse will be counted by hand, as has traditionally been done, so these may take a bit longer to report.”

A total of 630 vote by mail applications were approved before the August 1 deadline (168 in Lumsden-Morse, 204 in Regina Coronation Park, and 258 in Regina Walsh Acres). Mail-in ballots received by August 9 will be counted during the Second Preliminary Count on August 12. The Final Count on August 22 will include any mail-in ballots received after August 9 and before August 21.

To vote you must be a Canadian citizen, at least 18 years old and have lived in Saskatchewan for the last six months. You must show ID at the voting place before you receive your ballot. A list of acceptable ID is at www.elections.sk.ca/id.

At the start of Voting Week, there were 13,391 registered voters in Lumsden-Morse, 12,415 in Regina Coronation Park, and 11,777 in Regina Walsh Acres. Eligible voters not registered can still vote today by registering in-person when they arrive at a voting place today to cast a ballot.
