February 17, 2022. The Second Preliminary Count of ballots in the provincial constituency of Athabasca by-election is now complete. This count included vote by mail ballots received at Elections Saskatchewan’s head office by 8 p.m. on by-election day, February 15.

A total of 40 vote by mail ballot kits were mailed out for this event, and nine were returned by the February 15. These nine ballots have been counted and are included in the Second Preliminary Count tab on the event results website at: https://results.elections.sk.ca

Timelines for counting are:

First Preliminary Count. Took place after 8 p.m. on by-election day.

Second Preliminary Count. Took place today. Included vote by mail ballots received at Elections Saskatchewan’s head office by February 15.

Final Count. Takes place February 28. This includes vote by mail ballots received after February 15 but before the deadline of Noon on February 28. Note the final count may also include any in-person absentee ballots cast at the Athabasca Returning Office, hospital ballots and extraordinary ballots.
