February 9, 2018 – More than 35,000 voter information cards will arrive in mailboxes in Kindersley, Melfort and Swift Current over the coming days. The cards are being mailed to registered voters advising them of where and when to vote in the three provincial by-elections on March 1.

“A voter information card is the most important piece of information that a registered voter receives prior to a by-election,” says Dr. Michael Boda, Chief Electoral Officer of Saskatchewan. “These cards include individualized information for all voters registered in advance of a by-election, including the dates and times of advance voting and by-election day voting. On the back of the card are all the options of acceptable ID that a voter needs to show at the polls before receiving a ballot.”

The voter information cards entered the Canada Post mail stream today, so they should arrive over the next week in homes across the constituencies of Kindersley, Melfort and Swift Current. If an eligible voter does not receive a card by February 20, or the card arrives but with wrong information, please call 1-877-958-8683.

On by-election day, March 1, voters can only vote at the assigned location listed on their voter information card. However, all eligible voters can vote early at any advance poll in their constituency. The advance poll locations are listed on the cards, and are also online at www.elections.sk.ca/2018byelections. Advance voting is open February 23 to 27.

To vote in these by-elections you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen;
  • Be at least 18 years old;
  • Have lived in Saskatchewan since August 2, 2017;
  • Ordinarily be a resident of the constituency.
